Every once in a while it would pop into my head to try this and I finally remembered to do so today. I haven't used a tuner to see how close I can get the intonation, but by ear it doesn't sound off at all on the G string. I know theoretically this shouldn't work, but here it is:

The center post for the three point leaves a hole (and the Grecos had a sleeve which shows even more), but if I ever refin this bass it'll definitely get the Dasson treatment! I'm gonna leave it as is for now and see how I like it. I think it looks a LOT better. I'll bet a certain Fraulein might think so, too... ;)

That looks great ! Yet another use ! I bet it plays and feels better.

you gonna plug that hole? ;D

I'll probably refin this at some point. White of course... When I do, the hole will get good and plugged!
I just need to get it intonated by someone who knows more than me to make sure it's good. Otherwise, I'll move the bridge up a bit. I have the stud sleeves from an old Allparts order, so if I have to I'll plug all three holes and go from there.

that bass is so badass!!!!!! really nice.

Wow George,
That is a great idea! It looks much better this way.
Waitaminit, I have a Greco too...
If I look at mine I don't think it would work. I would need almost one centimeter more travel on the G with that bridge...

Finish it white and sell it to me! ;D

If you're not much into palm muting, you can just put a cover/palm rest in front of the bridge, just like a Gibson, the extra hole would be covered.

Nice 'bird George...
