Gibson straps
« on: January 26, 2021, 04:11:27 PM »
I tend to haunt the local kijiji musician's classifieds , and sometimes it pays off . I just picked up two Gibson "New Vintage" straps for $70 . L&M , the local music shop , sell them for $150 each .
Almost brand new , I don't think they've ever been sweaty . Couldn't resist , the seller had two ,  I bought both .
Nice heavy duty straps , although I do tend to favour fairly light basses .

That's a reasonable price. They really are nice straps.

Doing a couple of gigs this weekend and I'll get a good chance to try them . Last year I found a Gibson "Slingshot" strap on kijiji quite cheap , it's got an elastic in it and you can yank on it and lengthen it by a couple of inches . Kinda weird , I've come to like it .
Makes me wonder why people buy fairly expensive straps , not use them , and then sell them for a fraction of the cost .
Last year I also picked up a nice heavy duty leather Levy gigbag for about 1/3 of the going price . Had never been used .
