And never ever has that cover been put to better use too! If Model Gs were women, I'd advocate the wearing of burkas.

I don't care for there looks either but I love the way they sound ! They looked good in cream surrounds on the original Hamer Standards in cherry burst but that's about it.

It's not like I don't have them ... On that Hamibson Explorer of unknown origin ... They sound swell, but I never got over the color.

Very nice! Did you cover the original rear pickup as well or is that something else?

The bridge pup is a Seymour Duncan custom shop 60's Thunderbird in a '76 cover.

Looks much better, did you notice any change in tone?

So far no, no change in output or tone. I have only run it throgh my practice amp in the shop. I'll take it to rehearsal tomorrow for a full evaluation.

That looks great! Nice job! How did it do in rehearsal?

How would you say the Seymour Duncan pickup sounds in the bridge position as opposed to the stock TB+ ?

Ok I'll try and answer all the questions. John I did not pot it in hot wax, I was going to but all that stuff I couldn't find, a victim of the move. I just mounted the pick up in the cavity and put the cover over it, works fine. At rehearsal I didn't hear any difference in out put with the Model G covered. As for the SD custom shop repro pup in the bridge position it doesn't sound like a TB plus (I find these are brutish and lack the sparkle of a 60's TB pup) The SD sounds like a good 60's Thunderbird pup should nice full mids with a upper level of sparkle and just a bit of blurieness. To be honest the Model G is so hot the SD put is a bit inefective in this configuration but I can use it to tame the Model G.

Good to know. I love the TB+ in the neck position, but the bridge position sounds kind of thin and paltry. If I ever decide to swap the bridge pickup, make sure one of you guys saves your black plastic cover so I can have SD make the transfer!

Admittedly, that poor white TB has suffered worse in its painful history. Scott is finally making amends!

I know, I know: Enter Sir Charles Laughton/Dr Moreau remarking as he hears the screams of the beasts being operated against their will in "The House of Pain" to become humans in "The Island of Lost Souls":

"The natives are restless tonight ...".
