Hi Dave, welcome.
Maybe you can post a pic of your Thunderbird?

There's a good chance you wil get more info than you actually need in the Gibson part of this forum. ;)
Maybe Dave or Uwe can redirect this thread?

I wasn't aware that Epiphone made a Thunderbird that far back. Redirecting now, hopefully someone will know more than I do. Further description would help (and pic).

Of course Epiphone now only makes the reversed model with two soapbar pick ups and bolt on neck,  but isn't the non reversed with P/J pick ups a lot older?

And welcome!

A description or pic would help.

I am pretty sure there is no such thing as a '82 Epi Thunderbird. They came out with the Epi Non reverse thunderbirds in the 90's  where in the decade I'm not sure but i think it was closer to the mid 90's

The nonreverse with P/J series didn't come out until the mid 90s and I've never seen an earlier Epi Bird. Still, I'm not prepared to say there's no such thing as an 82. I don't know everything Epi was up to in the early 80s.

The Epi reverse TB came out in 1997, they bragged about it at the time as their first rev TB. It superceded the previous non-rev TB, but that had only been around a few years then. In 1982, Epi to my knowledge had not yet focused on the lucrative market of visually reasonably close Gibson replicas. That was still the age of own models such as the Genesis and the scroll bass. An early eighties Epi TBird would be a rarity, let's see pics!!!

Maybe just some confusion with a serial number?
