Title: Hofner Contemporary Series

Some will point out that it has a center block and, as such, is not a 'real' replica, but those I read who own or had played both reported that the difference (as compared to the Icon which is a true hollow body) was not a deal breaker for them and most preferred the Contemporary. Again, just what I've read...

I'd also be very interested in hearing the details about the Contemporary from someone who has tried one out. Without going into the details, this is a bass I might actually consider purchasing at some point in the future.

Very well made, very Höfner (there's also an even cheaper version, which is really like all other cheap violin bass copies). It's wel made, it has the center block, but they still are very light and very Höfner sounding. I reviewed the violin bass for a bass magazine and I compared it to the real deal of a friend's. Not much difference. He's a real old Höfner freak and he likes it.

The Verythin is only reissued as guitar, not as bass unfortunately. BTW: The Verythin really is very thin!
