I dunno about speed knobs on this one.  As a minimal option (vs Uwe's skulls, which I normally wouldn't even consider but feel right on the BFG) these might be cool:

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)

Those black knurled knobs would fit in with the rest of the hardware.

 Probably the only contemporary LP bass I ever wanted, so over the top! I kept waiting for one to show up at the HOG...............never did.

Those could be a good option too. Have to see them on the bass. And +1 on the skulls comment.
