Hearing & seeing is believing so lets start a video thread of demos of what Gibson basses sound & look like-
(None by me)

I really like this one. He nails the part and the T-bird sounds so bouncy and stout at the same time.

Good thread. Especially for someone like me who doesn't own a Gibson bass (two guitars though...) and wants to learn.

Me'shell proves gibsons aren't just for rock...

I guess those active les pauls weren't too popular but damn it sounded good in her hands.
-
Damn those Les Paul basses sound good (especially in the first clip). These basses never interested me, but now I have some serious GAS. Hope it blows over.
This one is my favourite featuring the Ripper:

Mississippi Queen:

...with the ol' Politician riff at The End!

I can never get enough of Mississippi Queen.

Grab a new Thunderbird ilan, you'll never regret it. Nice slim Jazz-like necks and have plenty of presence, I use chromes with mine and it still roars.

Most of you have seen this clip of course but it was this clip and song which started my love for the EB3 bass and Jack Bruces playing. Only two years ago. For me that is the ultimate EB3 sound: no mud, clear and fuzzy. Also like his hat.
Jack Bruce qui joue la basse!

More EB-3 with Jimmy Lea (notice the rhyme?):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYoNLzvUjfY
The track is obviously dubbed - it's the studio version (and Janis has been patched in to, but only visually, the music is all Slade), but the footage you see seems to be a rare live version of the song I've never heard the audio to. Then again: It might just be Good Bye T'Jane where Lea plays the high melody too.

With all his subsequent basses he always tried to perfect that sound sound with the overdriven midrange frequencies.
-
Cry Of Love bass player Robert Kearns with his Triumph through two Ampeg SVTs has the best bass sound I've ever heard.
Here's a two part video of a live Bootleg that I've uploaded:

thanks for that videos!
too bad the bass sound is a bit unclear and too far away.

I always liked this RD clip

I prefer the original from these clips but the qualities can't be compared recording wise.

I always liked this RD clip
Cool! That guy is doing the Entwistle right-hand technique! (One of them, anyway.) I don't see too many people besides me trying that.
Speaking of which... I haven't turned up any live Who vids from the brief Thunderbird period (roughly 1972 I think) but here's a nice Fenderbird bit... with Quadrophenia backing tapes galore... and Keith on vocals :-]
Some of the least trebly live Entwistle tone I've heard.

I like those Jack C basses too.
