Title: Epi T-bird back from repairs
Post by: Denis on May 08, 2010, 01:16:58 PM
Man, that was a long week! Repair is great: it was glued, then clamped for a week. This thing sounds SO good it's ridiculous and NOTHING like the Korean Epis I have. E is a loud, deep, gritty brute yet A,D, and G have nice clear tones which reminds me of the Rick's woody sound. It's an interesting mix.

Here are some pics I took this afternoon. I feel lucky to have scored this one and it's definitely a keeper, right at the top of my favorites!

It still puzzles me why Gibson can't make one of these.

Beautiful!   ;D

Thanks to God that all I see in the chrome is a reflection of you hand!  Some folks here abouts photograph thier basses in the nude........... ;)

It's a long running joke here, Denis (going all the way back to the Dudepit days)...

Why do you think George wears those dark glasses...? and let's not forget that cross-dressing shot of unknown origins... ;)

It still puzzles me why Gibson can't make one of these.

Who was it that commented about the CS's dislike of building them, so what hope of a quality budget job...?

That was a George in a different life back then. He has repeatedly apologized and made amends for it. We should not swell, errrm, dwell on it anymore.

That said, it was one man-size reflection. Uncircumcised even.

Slow! The annual spring motorcycle hobby kicked in with full force this year so I haven't gotten back on the Ripper. Probably tonight after I visit my parents I'll work on stripping more paint. I think I have everything I need to complete it though. :)

Now that I have the bass back and have had a few days to play it, I absolutely 100% understand why Mark and Scott and some others like those older-style chromey ones! It's an amazing instrument, really.
