I just had to register and say that looks great!  Reminds me of John Cipollina's guitar.

You did good on that poor bass, amen! Burns was my thought too.

What had the pre-owner lurking in that hideous cavernous hole?

Anal sex with cats is just not right and against nature. Even if they are large. What are you trying to tell us, John?

I knew there was something not quite right with him the moment he showed us his gizmo ...

Nice job.

What had the pre-owner lurking in that hideous cavernous hole?

I too wonder about this.  That looks too big even for an IBanez ATK triple coil pup.

it had a model one in the front and 3 di marzio j pickups in the back passage.i was not greatly impressed with the sound.hey yes indeed it was inspired by john cippolinas guitar, a shot of it on the cover of a man record called maximum darkness.the bulk of the hole in the back was filled with a mahogany block .the motherbucker in the back has 2 humbuckers in it which i have wired in series and measure 20 k ohms.adds some nice mids to the sound as the front pickup is all bass and a touch of treble.i would put up some sound cllps but i dont know how..

What? Anal sex?  :o ::) And it's supposed to "look really cool"?  :-X

I find the more and more confessional nature of this forum a little demanding sometimes.

 Indeed!.............John you have a gift!

I admire the dedication that took this basket case to completion, seeing the "before" pics, I'd have thought it only good for kindling, yet here it is. Nice, very nice.

And it goes to show how a little black plastic can make even the most gaping holes visually more appealing.

What are you all looking at me for now?  ???

That bass is undeniably nice and saving it will bring him to mahogany heaven several times over, but us perpetrators must penetrate other subjects too!

Last time I saw this thread it was a nice conversation about a bass. Now it's getting downright salacious.  ;D

Educational too,.......... I had to look up salacious in my Webster's. Nice Ray!  :D

Great job, has the bridge been moved back from the original position? I see a extra pair of holes there.

That is just because the current three point bridge replaced the original 2 point - their - how shall I put this? - holes don't match. An upgrade IMHO though Herr eb2 will no doubt beg to differ ...  ::)

ah yes.i put the 3 point bridge on there back when the bass was in its fugly state.i didnt have the old holes filled because i thought i might be able to get a 60s t bird bridge in there.i dont think that can be done though.the 3 point i like a whole lot better than the 2 point,it was much easier to set up and on this bass at least,it sounds better too.
