New album(s) Black Crowes
« on: September 10, 2009, 06:19:12 AM »
Before the Frost / Until the Freeze...

They are excellent!
Best album(s) in a long time.

I wouldn't be surprised if their single "I ain't hiding" becomes a smash hit.
Very funky bassline that reminds me of a Bill Wyman bass part.
Some Britpop influences. But still unmistakably Black Crowes.
Great guitar solo too.

Before the Frost / Until the Freez is very diverse: with touches of soul, bluegrass, blues, rock, etc

Both albums are on heavy rotation in my iPod.

I bought it yesterday! I'll listen to it tomorrow. I believe you can download the second album or something? I never downloaded music in my life, so I'm curious!

Downloading is for girls; men buy, play and own CDs.

I've got a copy waitng for me at my CD watering hole. Together with the new Frehley, Bigelf, Scarlett Johansen's/Pete Yorn's new one, new Fogerty and Porcupine Tree. Eclectic as always!

Re that Black Crowes single: Doublestop octaves are en vogue again, right? For a (long) time, people were thinking you were taking the piss when you attempted to play them.  ;D Vocs ("ooohoohoo") sound like they are sampled off the Stones' great Miss You. "Yeah, I've been walking Central Park ...".

And you've never masturbated in your whole life either, huh?  ;D

Eight times a day and I'm proud of it!!!

;)

To be serious: I downloaded a song once and I payed for it. It was a Boilersuit-song just to try how that site worked. Really!

Well, being slightly overweight does affect endurance even at a young age.

I've never downloaded either. I have no idea how to and I lack a private computer while the one at the office has that functionality disabled.

The other question regarding frequency? I can't compete with Chris, even at a younger age. I think four or five was my best, errmm, shot(s). Many moons ago.

If someone emailed you an mp3, would you know how to save the file on your computer? If so, then you know how to download. Sometimes an album will be in a zip or rar file, but I imagine you know how to extract those.

I then stick the email with the attachment into one of my Outlook subfolders and keep it there. Is that downloading?

Yes. It's dowloading from an email rather than a website, but it's still downloading.

If I put, say, a .pdf on Google docs and sent the link to you, rather than just emailing the .pdf to you, I'll bet you could download it. That would be downloading from a website. If you can do that, then you can probably download a file containing music too.

I probably could if I tried, monkey see monkey do, as long as you are not asking what and why I am doing it that is!

But music on non-vinyl or -CD media holds little value for me as a keepsake. I like looking at my wall of CDs. And all the Boxed Sets. And I don't much like listening to muisc on headphones, so an ipod has little attraction for other reasons too.

I love to go to CD shops, find the one you're looking for or you get surprised by something. Then coming home, listening to the cd while reading the booklet. Masturbate eight times... No, everything but the last thing;)

I'm glad that this forum's previous obsession with anal sex has now found a worthy topic successor!
