Title: Amazing guitarist
Post by: Barklessdog on February 24, 2009, 09:44:47 AM
I found this guitarist on SoundClick.com
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=147108

He goes under "Bulb" - not everyones cup of tea, but amazes me just the same.

Please explain John.
I can't see what's so amazing about this guy?
All I hear is a guitar that is slightly out of tune, sloppily playing along with undefinable racket.

I don't get it either. He sounds like my neighbor's son back when he was learning to play.

Funny how something sounded good to me, then everyone else hates it. I'm getting used to it I guess.

Is that something like an ear-llucination? ;)

Not my cup of tea but I agree he could have spent a bit more time on his tuning. Being in tune is a bit of a bug bear with me.

Not the most organic player if I may say so. And playing along to other people's music is fine if you have to learn their stuff, but from a certain point on you should make it your own and not just replicate.

I've always said that John's affliction is progressive. It goes from bad to worse.

The first clip he is playing to his own song. I give up!

I guess the fact that it's his own song can negate the fact that he is out of tune and credit it to creativity :)

Well, I think if it weren't a blur, and the guitar wasn't a little wanky, what he was TRYING to do might have been interesting.   I got a sense that there may have been some content underneath that wall of mush.
