Have you built any other 12-string basses?

I just started putting together a parts list for one.  It will have a Warmoth 4 string 13 degree tiltback paddle headstock neck with carbon fiber rods.  Warmoth's 4 string necks have the same heel as Fender 4s but with 21 frets.  The Big Bottom 12 is stable after almost a year under tension.  I haven't had to touch the trussrod.

Body will probably be a version of G8R, MAX, or ExplorerBird.

I sent the G8R to its new owner Friday, so I'm ready for a personal build.

Thanks, guys!  Finally got my high tech photo studio sorted out, complete with my 12 year old Chinese copy of Photoshop 7.

Carlo... be careful with that Chinese PS7... if it gets too close to your Explorerbird it'll be knocking out cheap copies in no time...!

Thanks, Jim!  I've built quite a few basses while you've been away including an 8er, a 12 string and a pair Vox Phantom clones.

Here's the next one in the pipeline shown with the departed Fiver.  32" scale tilt back headstock neck.  Paint will be vintage candy apple, transparent red over gold base.

Headstock completed, body should be done in a day or two.

Here's the stuff I used.  Black primer /surfacer base (not shown), then gold miniflake and 'bloodshot' candy powder mixed in clear coats (separate coat for each).  Then a dozen or so clear coats.

Damn, Carlo... why'd you have to be so far away... ;)

Mind you... had a good day, weather-wise, so...
