I've defended the mighty Evertilt ("it's not that bad"  ;D) but even I think that price is insane.

Yeah but that second one is not real (made in japan stamped underneath)

$199 Aus dollars used to be a good price didn't it?

actually just looked it up $199 AUD = $137 USD or £85 or 106 Euros

That was a better deal a year ago for sure.

And it is most likely that it will not fit.

At least, that is the case with three point bridges and their Japanese/Korean copies

What the heck is that Japanese one from?  I have never seen an Evertilt clone before.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

I was trying to find a good photo of a 70s Ibanez Thunderbird or Triumph copy - without the bridge cover on.  It kinda looks like the same bridge they might have used on those, IIRC.

When you see a quality bridge design, it's only natural to want to copy it.  :P

True, but that is hardly an explanation for this fareastern attempt at recreating something that was already a crap idea in the first place, right?  :P :P :P :P :P

It's not that bad. They just forgot that it needs a tailpiece.  :P

I played a brand new Duesenberg bass that had a similar style bridge tonight.

Also played a 60's burns vista sonic bass but it was pretty awful and virtually unplayable.

Some Italia basses, like the Maranello, have nice two-point wrap around bridges which work fine.

I've got a '64 Vista Sonic and it's my best sounding bass. It plays like a dream, also because of the 32" mediumscale. The neck is a bit influenced by temperature, but not that mucht. I play it live and with rehearsals a lot. Andy Bell of Oasis has one too, and he used to play it live. It's on one Oasis recording a live version of My Generation. A B-side. He also 'plays' it in the last Oasis vid.
What didn;t you like about it?
