I think they were. Only the early 4001S/1999RM's were neck-thru.

Gorgeous '72 FG - as always with Olivia's, tons of drool-worthy hi-res pics. Action is higher than my upright, though.

You have to wonder if there's something up with the neck. Definitely not normal. That action's so high you could slide Calista Flockhart between the neck and strings.

When you put it that way, the action doesn't seem all that high...

I don't see the obligatory neck crack, so it's possible that the truss rods were never adjusted and the bass now wears medium or heavy gauge strings.

I used to like ridiculously low action (especially on Rics) but since moving to upright two years ago, it just feels awkward to the point that I had to raise string heights on most of my basses.

1969 MG - $8K BIN and a very high action (5mm at 12th fret).

That is very nice. Ridiculously priced IMHO even if the action were good but you never know what a nice 60s Rick may bring.

Kevin Teed has recently bought a Fireglo '69 that unlike this one has the earlier wide pickguard. Both basses have a half-rounded transitional heel shape and mono output.

Very nice... 8)

I don't think his marketing strategy will work. It's relatively rare but just not that valued by most Rick fans.
