If I remember correctly, that's the same guy who parts out what seems to be every single Ric he gets his hands on.  :P

And Gibsons and Fenders.

And it's a 4003, not a 4001.

Yep, early 80s body end TR adjustment proves it's a 4003.

Hard to see, could this be an early 4003?

It's neat, all right, but with binding and original pickguard removed I don't think it's worth anywhere near the opening bid. Someone else may think otherwise, though.

Research can be fun...

Something intriguing about this... I narrowly missed a white EB2 (bought by Bruce Foxton) and ended up buying my Peter Cook from the same shop in my local town back in the late 70's... I followed the Jam (curiosity, not musically) after this...

This art is based on a classic 1963 pop-art painting by Roy Lichtenstein...

Paul Weller had this 330...

Further digging finds this link to a site producing replicas...

http://www.thepaintedplayer.co.uk/the_artist_series.html

What the true roots of this Ric I am uncertain but the seller placed the word "Jam" in his header...

Presumeably a bad depiction of a Mig - the original comic he reputedly based it on shows a Sabre shooting down a Mig...

According to the David Axt list, the 4001 was discontinued in 1983 (some overlap with the 4003), 4001S discontinued sometime between 1984-86.

I had heard there might be some overlap, don't remember seeing a confirmed example before.
