Lefty 4000... How rare is that? In Fireglo, and routed for a neck pickup and four pots under the pickguard.

Paging Ronn and Terr ... let the bidding wars begin.

I should make it clear that the routing for a neck pickup is factory, not a mod.

We were just looking at this over on Leftybassist.
This one might just set a record.

Wow!  Look how far the neck joint goes into the body.  Those are pretty stable even with the route.

Is it possible she started out that way and modified for extra sheckles on the bidding...? (or shoud I take my cynics hat off...? ;))

Many 4000's came from the factory routed for two pickups. This one has "4000" penciled in the control cavity, and is a set-neck, so I see no reason to suspect it was modified.

Some owners of such 4000's have converted them to dual-pickup 4001S. It's s reversible mod that makes sense.

Didn't meet reserve at 995. Limited market for 4000s, but you would think a lefty would bring out a few higher bids than that.

Yes, I am surprised. 4000s are generally considered collectable. One in this good of condition and a lefty should have attracted serious attention. Oh well guess it's a good thing I don't play the vintage guitar market. :D

Sold for $710... I remember when not so long ago you could buy a nice unmolested Ric for that price.

That one needs to be steam cleaned and disinfected.
