Nice !  I picked up a set neck 4000 last year , I thought I'd miss the neck pickup but quickly got comfortable without it and came to appreciate just having two knobs .

I'm not an expert on after-market parts, but it looks like the "original" tailpiece that is included (photographed separately, not the Hipshot installed) might be an All-parts tailpiece/bridge with the center "tooth" notched out to make it look more vintage. It is definitely not a '72 tailpiece. The other details on the bass look right for a '72.

Glueburst?

True elegance in nomenclature....

Glueglo is also accepted nomenclature.

I've seen Japanese copies from the '70s do the same thing. Something leaches out of the binding, or binding glue, that discolours the maple fairly badly for whatever reason. I would love to know the science behind it.

Definitely an Allparts tailpiece/bridge.  Brody also states that the pots are from 1973, but there seem to be a lot more things inconsistent with the harness for it being the same vintage as the bass, itself.  ???

It's rare enough that someone may pay close to the asking price.

As purist as I may be, somehow I'm not offended by the upside-down C64 TRC and I even like the black guard.

It's missing the sliding mute and bracket. The early 4000 had a thicker body, 1 5/8" (41mm) with no contours on the edges. Current models are 1 ¼" (31mm). The old ones weigh more, too, and were neck heavy.
