Wow that's a serious Glueburst. Here's another Glueboy (Midnight Glue?) - '71 - $5,815 BIN

An original (i.e. NOT a Jeff Rath mod) 2001 4003S/5 Mid Blue for a very reasonable $3,000 price tag.

Of course it's not a Jeff Rath mod. It looks normal.

Fantastic birdseye on this Aug. 1968 (exactly 50 years old) FG 4005. $11,999 BIN

And one of the best applications of Fireglo I've seen.

I'll never like Fireglo but that's a nice one, and with that birdseye, might sell at the asking price.

Me too! And Fender Sienna burst and Gibson Cherry burst and all other names for the same orangey not-really-dark-around-the-edges bursts. Glad we can say it here... there are places where you can get blocked for posting this ;-)

The '01 Mid Blue S/5 from 4 posts up was sold for $3K and now, 9 days later, is offered for $3.5K. But this time with much better pics. Yes it's the same one (fretboard grain pattern).

Gemini pickups are an upgrade? If their YT demos are accurate, I consider them a downgrade.

I should have bought that $500 90s 4003s/5 at Guitar Center 20 years ago. Didn't need a 5er, thought the string spacing made it way too hard for fingerstyle anyway. If I could only have foreseen future demand, I would have stored it away.

Original pickups are included.

If it makes you feel any better, I once passed on a refinished horseshoe-era 4000 and bought a '78 Fender Musicmaster instead. They were both $300 iirc.

I did see that the originals were included. I just found it amusing that the seller described the Geminis as an upgrade.

Only replacement pickup I'd consider an upgrade is Nordstrand's new Nordenbocker neck pickup. Nails the Ric tone (IMHO) with more output and clarity when soloed, and it's RW/RP to the bridge pickup, unlike the stock neck pickup.

If you need more output from the stock neck pickup, I like Ted Staberow's simple trick - a neodymium bar magnet under the pickup turns it into a monster.

That's interesting! If I buy the lot of 5, does that mean I have to buy 4 more Rics so I can put them all to good use?

I keep both pickups on so I don't really need more output, but I might try that anyway.

That's what I found on eBay in a quick search but you might want to look for a thinner magnet. The neck pickup rout is shallow, make sure you have enough room to fit the magnet.

They're only 50 mm., about 2" so you can do both pickups and use the last one to hang your set list from your mic stand.
