RIC should do a limited run 4000v59.

Why does the tailpiece have SIX string holes, rather than four?

Why does the tailpiece have SIX string holes, rather than four?

Early Rickenbacker basses were made with "off the shelf" guitar parts in the Rick inventory, such as knobs, screws, pots, and tailpieces. The familiar tailpiece didn't enter the picture until late 1961-early 1962.

Much like the Toaster pup, which underneath has 6 poles.

That '59's a cool bass but it's so rudimentary looking!

If I were going to have a single pickup Ric, it would have to be a toaster at the neck position. Tom Petersson has one of THOSE too!

The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

Those are cool...I'd probably go for that somehow if I did not have my Candy Apple Red Hamer Thunderbird 8 string come home to me this year after almost 9 years. I borrowed Tom Heslin's for about a week. NICE axe.

I like the way the ad calls it a "Rickenbacker 12 string bass"...  ???

And I'm glad this one is fireglo, one of my least favorite Ric colors so that I don't have to feel tempted!

It does look in good shape, but if you wanted to ask about relief, action, truss rods etc. would a pawn shop seller be able to give you the answers?

He did correct the description to 8 strings in the body of the listing.

It looks almost real. 12 hours to go and I'll bet it will fetch $1,200+.
