What I don't get is why he went to all this trouble transforming his Ric to a Fender P, but left the original bridge/tailpiece? Usually that's the first thing to get replaced with a Badass.

Three 4000's on eBay... the modded one in Germany that's been relisted a million times, a nice flame MG at Olivia's - tons of drool-worthy pics as usual -

And a Jetglo 4000 - the "Stanley Clarke model" ;) In the UK, local pickup only. Love the 'relic'.

Olivia's prices are almost always on the high end, they must get it at least some of the time. But $4,190 for a 72 4000? I don't think so.

'72 dark Burg! How cool is that?

Anyone wants to venture a guess as to the final price?

BTW, fellow forumite Marc Lazare has a gorgeous mid-73 Burg (checkerboard, toaster but smaller inlays) that is probably the best sounding and playing Ric I have ever had the pleasure to play... This one reminds me of Marc's bass.

That is beautiful, but I would not like to hazard a guess on the outcome...

I realize it's high already with 5 days left, but I'll guess $4500.

I sold a beat up one about 5 years ago for $2500.  It has been re-fretted and had a replacement treble pickup.  Still made a profit too.  Wish I still had my '71 4001 with 21 frets.

I'm guessing $4K for the Burg.

That Jetglo is awesome!

The 72 Burg ended at $3550. Must be the economy.

The 59 4000 is certainly rare. Hard to figure out what it's worth. Is it highly valued for its tone? I don't think so. More for its rarity.

Agreed. They are also reputedly very heavy and from what I've read some have neck issues and high action by today's standards. Still I'd like to own one for the historic significance. This one looks very clean.

Too bad Treena dropped out of sight about five years ago. You could make an offer on that 61 she said was a 57.  ;D  As if she actually ever owned it.   :-\
