Since the FIAT reorganization the truck division is called Ram.  Dodge is cars only.  Commercials OTOH appear to be being done by the usual gang of idiots.

Is there any class of commercials more idiotic than car commercials? I don't think so, although car insurance commercials and yogurt commercials come close.

Chrysler was using the Ron Burgundy character for Dodge commercials just before the release of Anchorman II. Seriously, WTF? Even if I thought Will Ferrell was funny (I don't), why would some idiot mispronouncing things make me want to buy a Dodge?

At least that wasn't as bad as the ongoing Toyota "Jan" commercials, where an unending stream of imbeciles, retards and jerks come up to her counter. Is Toyota trying to tell us that their ideal customer has the intelligence of a cabbage?

Then there are the recent Ford "switch" commercials where they talked to actors who they're trying to convince us are real customers. In three different Escape vs. Honda commercials, the "real" customer pronounces it Hawnda and in the F-150 vs. Dodge version, the guy pronounces it Dawdge. Sounds to me like they were all trained by a coach with a speech impediment!

Jaguar's response was cute. OTOH neither of those would ever convince me that I ought to buy a car from them.

"Cat-like reflexes" LOL. Real cats don't spend most of their time in the shop with mechanical and electrical problems.

The old advertiser saying still rings true: "50% of our advertising is a waste of money. We just don't know which 50%."

If it were, they wouldn't spend it. You can rely on that.

Average advertising cost for a new car in the USA was $621 in 2013.

Most expensive car commercial ever made

Dave, are you serious? You're going to call out car commercials over ED ads - or most pharma ads, for that matter? How about the adult, er, "leakage" products?

The Ron Burgundy ads were a no-brainer for Chrysler - and hugely successful:

I'm tired of all advertising. Summer is around the corner and I think I'm going to ditch my cable tv service for a while. Someone had to remind me that Fiat owns Chrysler. Does this mean car chases in the movies are all going to start looking like this?

"Advil - twice the strength of Tylenol."

Or was it the other way around?
