I'm the same age as you Denis but my wife is only 7 years younger than me. I always support the adage that you are only as old as the woman you feel.

Maybe I should post here more often to counter all of this out.

Despite the fact that I am just shy of 23, I have found that compared to some just a few years younger, I have experienced that old feeling. Probably has to do with how fast technology changes combined with how they have stuff now that we were not even thinking of when I was their age. I still remember being the only one in middle school with a cell phone but now it seems like everyone in middle school is texting each other all day long.
There are many in this world that call me Darrol, feel free to be apart of that group.

I hear you, Darrol. It's amazing to watch how many people text all day long, and not just kids in school.

Most of the time I have no problem relating to anyone younger. But there are a couple of "younger generation" things I'll never understand.

One is people who like restaurants with fake, deliberately loud background noise. What the hell is up with that? I remember the first time I went with some friends to a BW3 (now Buffalo Wild Wings). So loud you couldn't hear yourself think, and people were waiting in line to get in. No thanks. Why would I want to eat in an unpleasant atmosphere just so everybody can pretend the artificial noise means everyone else is having fun?

The other is morons who make public marriage proposals just so they can be seen on the news. You see this more and more on TV the last few years. What is wrong with people who want to make a public spectacle of what ought to be private? I think electro-shock therapy is in order.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) might help relieve symptoms of persistent depression that do not respond to medication but will do nothing to help with narcissism or to improve poor judgment.

The other day I was explaining to my daughter that there was a time when there was no "internet".

My son was just on the edge of texting, so he still talks on the phone (cell), where my daughter who is 18 only texts & is completely freaked out if her phone rings.

7 years difference is nothing!

I still remember being the only one in middle school with a cell phone but now it seems like everyone in middle school is texting each other all day long.

Funny, I'm probably the only one in my neighborhood who still has a rotary phone and a land line!

I wasn't serious but I would never rely on a Wackypedia article for accuracy about ECT.

They should at least get a pointer poke.

Old mans view on texting............ In the 1800's, we had the telegraph, early texting. Alexander Grahm Bell spent years inventing a way to transmit the human voice though those same wires. Much of the computer age is credited to technology driven by the phone company. Then came cell phones, no wires necessary! Then everything seemed to devolutionize back to where it started, texting...........SOS!

You know you're old when your kids asked you if everything was in black & white when when we were kids.  :-\

Went to a school reunion recently. A room full of ..."OLD" people no less. I had a hard time seeing myself as one of them.

I'm wondering how this thread is going to make it from the trimming of nose hairs to our usual subjects  ;D

OK, I'll play.

I've been helping my mum sort through her recently departed husband's stuff (my stepfather) and one of the treasures is the first 3 editions of Australian Playboy magazine - which was first published in 1979.  Naturally (pun intended) I had a quick browse through the magazines, and am really tempted to show them to the 20-something guys in my band to freak them out - all the women in the Playboys have untended, wild gardens.  I bet that would scare the crap out of young guys today.

I used to be fascinated with technology. Our space program was awesome. I have stopped my telephonic technological advance though. I have a landline with a wireless handset. Robocalls suck. The person who invented them should roast eternally. I refuse to give up more privacy and uninterrupted reflection time to a cell phone. Selective luddite rant over for now...

I just got divorced.  My aging process has halted temporarily.
