Looks like a case of bidders getting caught up in the excitement of an auction, where if they did their research first they would have found the bass listed at Kebo's website and made him an offer.
It's a bit like when I list something on eBay with a BIN price, and as soon as the first bidder has bid, the BIN price disappears. 9 times out of 10 the final price ends up being higher than the original BIN price.
