Fender & Korina?
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:01:36 AM »
Anyone ever see a Fender Bass with a Korina body?

I was toying with the idea of a Korina PBass with a maple neck and started looking to see what one looked like....then realized there ARE no photos of any.

Why? Is that a bad tonal combination for a bolt-on?

I thought it might sound a bit more "Gibson-ish" but not so much so that I couldn't find ANY out there. I thought a white korina body with a figured maple neck who look great together....but if there is some aural reason to stay away I might not try it. I like PBasses and TBirds, so this seemed like a good blend to try.

Opinions?

No personal experience. Warmoth does offer black korina bodies for basses as well as guitars, somebody must be buying them.

I've seen a few korina Teles posted over the years at the TDPRI, never heard of any problems. OTOH they aren't go replace ash and alder for most players. Tradition trumps anything else, you know.

Yeah, I actually own white korina guitars, even a Tele, and setneck korina basses.

I just have never seen a bolt-on Fender offered in korina, so I am wondering if there is a reason?
