GEORGE!!!!!
Thanks for posting!!! Just got her back from the paint shop-THIRD COAST GUITAR REPAIR-painted in amber clear NITRO cellulose Lacquer by the Master Luthier, R.D. Kick ass!!! Not a heavy bass at all. Top heavy??? Ah...aren't they all?? Not that bad...
I made the body out of 2 pieces of Korina from a Template made from a Gibson Futura. I don't know when I came up with the idea to build this... Rock maple Gibson bass neck...I altered the headstock a bit....blew up the original Guitar template....Schaller tuners, hamer bridge and tailpiece...I made the fingerboard from a big chunk of Indian Rosewood and had some guidance making it with my friend Ben Lindsey, cut the fret slots, sanded the radius, crowned the frets. I also had some help from my friend and ex boss, a MASTER CNC programmer and pattern finisher (over 30 years) with neck slot route and the string guides. Orville Thunderbird pickup...OF COURSE!!!!!!
This probably Has to be thee best sounding and playing 8 string I ever owned and built!!!! The stack height is lower than the Korina NR 8 and the neck was sanded even thinner. Basic 8 string. NO BS. I obviously have to make more.....a couple of NR 8's...maybe another Futura....who knows what's next. I like CLASSIC DESIGNS. Period.
Basil T. Cooper (Baz Cooper) Facecrook has some pics of my other basses......I have no idea where this is leading an unemployed Musician like myself....
Hey..Tom Petersson....wanna check this one out?
