I wasn't looking for it and wouldn't have known except for that post on FB.

I've been off it for years, but in this case FB was a very good thing.

The blue stain guitar was only really blue on about 1/3rd of the body, the rest looked closer to black.

My blue bass is also pretty dark, but at least the 3-piece body is well-matched, so I'm happy about that.  I once bought a new cherry-finish Firebird Tribute model that had a 4-piece body (if I remember right), and one small piece near the knobs stuck out like a sore thumb, way darker than the rest.  Sent it back.  That wasn't the only reason though, it neither felt good nor sounded good.  Ordered another one from a different retailer and got a good one, still have it.

The bass is here, but due to the cold Minnesota weather (it's up to 16 degrees) I have to wait to open it. Inside the gig bag pocket is it's "Birth Photo". The coloring does look better than the LP DC Special I saw yesterday at GC.......

I got mine today and I'm also having to wait about opening it because of the cold.

Opened mine & took a quick run to GC to check out a case. I fit perfectly in a Gator LP Flight case (guitar). So I ordered the cheaper brown one, GW-LP-BROWN.
After lowering the bridge a bit, the bass played like butter & it has it's own voice. I like it!

Just pulled a trigger on a red one - $549 from ZZ sounds over 6 months - but since it's being shipped to my P.O. Box it likely won't get here until mid-week.

Will report back...

Did yours come in the XXL gig bag also?

That gigbag might even fit a Ripper.

Looks like you could hide a body in that bag.

No idea what Gibson was thinking with this one.  I bet it'd be great for a long-scale 335 bass, but unfortunately I don't own one and would probably have a hard case for it if I did.   ???

I'm glad I'm prepared for the gig bag after looking at these pics.  If I was sure everything with the bass is okay, I'd be tempted to wait until I can get a case before I even opened the box.  Still, with this bass at such a low price, I can't complain about anything.

The case I ordered is suppose to be at my local GC on Tuesday. They price matched the MF 15% off so I bought it for $101.99. I hope it fits the same as it did in the flight case. We talked about the pickups a while back. The plastic covers are exactly the same as what is on my T'Bird bass.

It looks like somebody literally figured out how to jam an EB pickup into a TB Plus cover by flipping it over. Maybe they didn't think the EB pickup looked right? To me it seems like a nice clever hack to get a particular sound and appearance without the cost of manufacturing any new parts.
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy
