Aw man hasn't this thing gone away yet?
I'm gettin' sick of seeing it to be honest.

They are mad, a 450 pound BIN. Thats like 900 US !
-
This "thing" has been bouncing around ebat for at least 18 months that I'm aware of
-
They keep hoping Jerry Casale will notice it. ;)
-
I think it's been around for 3 or 4 years, at least. they should lower the price to something like $200-300 if they want to move it. I wonder how much they got it for?
-
I always feel sorry for this thing. The worst mutilated Gibson bass I've been unfortunate enough to lay eyes on.
-
He would be better off parting it out, then continually burning our eyes.
-
If the price was realistic I would buy it just to give it a loving home.
-
He's had that thing up for so long at 10x a realistic price so I doubt there's any chance of that. He's just hoping for one ignorant sucker.

Do you have lots of formerly homeless kittens around your place godofthunder?
-
I am deathly allergic to cats. But I do have lots of basses ;)

What are starting the "Island of Missfit Gibson basses" ?

LOL We have a song on our latest CD Misfit Isle !
-
I really don't think they want to sell it. It's advertising for their parts business. They have a number of crazy hacked basses they use like that and a few more sensible ones they sell at slightly more realistic prices. Sometimes they have the same beater up in several auctions at the same time. Their response to negative feedback is quite entertaining.

I see. A retaliatory feedback policy like theirs is why eBay just recently changed its feedback policy.
Of course the buyer isn't always right either. Look at the most recent one where the buyer gives them a neg on the original Floyd Rose parts. How is that the seller's fault?
-
Gaww..............my eyes! There's more than one, lets hope they don't end up in the same house.
Gay or sterile...............

me!!!! :-[  :-\ :-[
I kind of dread winning this. It is not a purchase that can be justified with common esthetic standards.
PS: But of course I will get a second one to mate it with this one, it's my fiendish plan for ze ültimäte mäster räce bäss ...
-
Herr Moderator,
That is a most frightening thing! :-X

Understatement of the month!
-
Uwe, please confirm that you're not considering a bid on the mutilated Ripper as well! not to say that this G3 is mutilated but it's definitely under developed. ;)
-
??? ;D
-
The prototype character (and only that) does it for me I have to say. This thing is embarrassingly ugly, but it's a part of their product history. And this specimen is in good condition, besides I don't have a natural Grabber or G-3 yet, though I readily admit that a non-crippled one would be a worthier acquisition.
Uwe
-
I suppose if you placed the crippled G3 in a rack stand with it's fully developed brothers, it may go unnoticed for awhile.
-
It will test the social behaviour of my Rippers, G-3s and Grabbers as a group. Will they gang up on the crippled specimen in a darwinistic instinct to eradicate all that is weak and feeble?
-
They will taunt him, and call him "gimpy"
-
"They will taunt him, and call him "gimpy"
Close, they will taunt him and call him a girl since he's obviously missing part of his anatomy......... ;)
-
Hey that reminds me of one of my favorite Dilbert cartoons

I think I might have actually worked with the guy the manager in that strip is modeled after.
Luckily, I never met the nurse.
-
If you sized it down enough, it might make a great bottle opener.
PS: I was actually outbid - would you believe? Can't say I'm disheartened about it ...
-
LOL :D

Someone else being willing to pay more is almost as disturbing as you bidding on it.

My heart still goes out to this poor thing. I'm a thing person not a people person.
-
While the shape is horrible in of itself, could the neck and electronics be removed and salvaged so someone could put together a new body? I know they're not bolt on but someone should be able to do it.
I'd offer 'em two bits for the electronics alone...
-
I missed this thread, but it's great!

I didn't know there was a Heather Mills signature model!
-
Ok that actually made me laugh out loud ;D
-
Did Gibson really consider that as a possible model, or did a bandsaw operator just have a slack afternoon? "Hey, guys, I wonder what this G3 would look like if I just slice it through here? .... .... Oh."
-
I believe that it actually is rumored to be a real Gibson prototype or short number of basses. A black one was seen as well.
-
Heather Mills signature model - ummmmph ...
You guys are a vile bunch.
Yes, in the meantime so many of these have cropped up that Gibson must have been serious about it though it was obviously intended to be released under the Epiphone brand name.

Hey! I could have said Rick Allen signature model - but he's a drummer.
