i always thought that sheilding paint was made from nickle dust. beetle poop? really?

Guess I should have used a smiley.

But seriously, shellac (not conductive paint) really is made from lac beetle excretions.

I would be very surprised if that's a real Gibson case.

Bet that Model One practically on top of the bridge sounds wonderful.

"Tiger Woods walks into a club..." will replace "a baby seal walks into a club..."

I'm living in a hole, because I never saw this lotto model before this thread - but I love the looks of it.

It's not surprising that you haven't heard of it. IIRC it was a custom shop model with a $6K list price. There may have been a very small run.

Haha - yeah I did strip it.  It seemed like the conductive paint was impeding the natural resonance of the wood.   :P

Not if you use old style conductive paint made from lac beetle poop. It lets the electrons flow freely.

"Mrs. Woods, how many times did you hit him?"

Doesn't fur85 (Mark F.) have a two-pickup model too?

Yes, Gibson thought that since it was 2005 (or thereabouts), they should go "modern" with a design from the 1980s.

It's the same policy they use with their artist endorsements.  :-\

What was the Continental V, other than an apparent disappointment?

Never actually made it into production despite being shown on a number of websites.

Somewhere there's a prototype or two, and Uwe is no doubt still keeping watch.

Take a look at this Earthwood guitar, it's actually marked as a prototype, and look at the price he's asking: http://www.gbase.com/gear/earthwood-prototype-1970

I wouldn't call that a prototype, just a transitional model.

He's dreaming of a green Christmas. I don't think so.

Former Miss Argentina dies from cosmetic surgery

What a way to go.

I'm glad I decided to grow old gracefully.
