Swing punk
« on: August 17, 2010, 06:40:23 AM »
when my youngest son got his first punk band together in high school they wanted me to write a few tunes. so i did but added walking basslines instead ofthe usual barrage of eighth notes on the root. the drummer called it swing punk. i kind of liked that term. yeah, not much of a story but i nice memory for me. ;D

Sometimes that can really make a difference. Not that root 8th notes are bad, they're just right for certain songs. But other times a little creativity can go a long way.

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Mad Juana's ethno gypsy whatever-else-you-can-throw-in-there-swing has a punk feel I always thought:

DUCK.... ;D

Once played in a band that was described as jazz-metal due to some of the obscure changes we did...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...
