Happened upon this one for a good price when the wallet was full and always wondered what they were like and wanted one.
An AMAZING-SOUNDING bass and the loudest unamplified bass ever(IMO).
-
What are the pickups? When I see creme-colored P pups I assume DiMarzio, but could be anything...
-
Pretty sure Tokai made the Fernandes in that era. AFAIK Tokai made their own pickups though it wouldn't surprise me if these were copies of DiMarzios.
-
Purty! Good for playing James Taylor songs I bet.
-
why would that be?

Claws away... ;)

Lee Sklar had a Precision with an added split coil pickup in the bridge position and he used it on lots of tracks with J.T.

Lee's bass has P-pickups reversed and they are also in different positions:

IIRC he also installed a separate preamp for each pickup.

and he can use his beard for muting

His beard is also a handy mic stand. :)
