Christmas Song
« on: December 14, 2019, 02:08:27 PM »
I like this version by Dave Edmunds.  Kind of falls apart at the end, but that's because it was for a New Year Eve's celebration which has no relevance now.

What could be better than a Dave Edmunds performance? A Dave Edmunds performance with an appearance by Larry Bud Melman at the end.  ;D

In all honesty, I'm not even sure if there is anything better than this.  It's probably my favorite performance of a Christmas song.  You would think that there would be more stuff like this out there.  But in my opinion, there isn't all that much.

Video title says 2000 but this is from Sweet Revenge (1973), John's third album.

The Mael Brothers were/are Jewish ...

And since we're at Christmas songs sung dressed up all in white ... hark, hear Angel sing and have yourself a prog-pomp little Christmas!

And for reasons unknown, Daniel Radcliffe of Potter fame decided to re-do this song, using an approach which follows Lehrer did.  But it has a nice modern bounce, plus a chorus!!

Deck the halls with advertising,
Fa la la la la la la la la.
'Tis the time for merchandising,
Fa la la la la la la la la.

Stan Freberg's classic

And for those of us old enough to remember Jack Webb

Norah Jones and Willie Nelson singing the scandalous, original lyrics to "Baby It's Cold Outside."

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.
