I had no idea Charvel was into building this kinda of basses.
I think it's pretty cool!

That's beautiful, in a quirky kind of way. You can see where Italia go for inspiration.

i thought these were cool when they came out in the 90's

They were cool looking. I saw a lot more of the guitars than the basses.

Clapton's Surfcaster just sold for something like $9000 at his latest sale earlier this year to benefit Crossroads Centre.

I liked the 'tars better than the bass back when ..... This wasn't a real cheapo bass and still it has only 1 vol / 1 tone plus toggle, talk about limiting your sound options ......  But having said that: a Surfcaster in SeaFoam Green looks real nice ........  ;)

from pickup placement, etc, that looks like a bass I would really like the sound of...

A fan has recently put up a Surfcaster site, mostly about the guitars. Nice collection! I didn't realize they were later rebranded as Jacksons and production moved from Japan to India. They may have discontinued the basses by then.

From his artists section, I found Eddy and the Stingrays. Look at the Photos section -- they're playing matching surf green Surfcasters in most of the shots.

Neat! I really like offset fingerboard dots. I wonder how much like a Danelectro this sounds.
Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
Clocks.

I like that MUCH more than the pointy-headstock Charvels.

i think the pick guard needs something? the straight line on the bass side is kinda lame. so many basses and guitars out there, where the PG messes the whole thing up. is it that hard to follow the body shape? thats why i like the P bass PG. i was just looking at my SG and i hate the PG. the "horns" could have smoother lines and the bass side and rear have curves that dont follow anything. the ones with the little guard look better. sorry to off on a tangent.
