A Lamborghini has been my dream car for decades, & is still unobtainable for me.

The GM factory here in Adelaide runs under the brand name Holden Cars.  As the saying goes, "...as Aussie as Holden cars and meat pies".

Anyway one of the most famous Holdens was the FJ. A really quite ugly old bomb that had a certain resemblance to a 1950's Desoto in my mind. For some reason Australians have an attachment with them.

A couple of years ago Holdens decided to do a modern version of it in a dream car and actually build one or three. I think only one made it to the road.
They called it the Holden Efijy.

The original mid-50s Holden FJ reminded me of our 1949 Chevrolet.

Now that is seriously cool. That would be my dream car. There is a guy thatr brings a Holden car he modified to look identical to Mad Max's car in the first movie. Probably one of my favorite cars from as car movie.

John, You sure its a Holden? The main car in Mad Max is a Ford Falcon. Although the Nightriders car in the movie is a Holden HQ Monaro.

Trust me, I'm no authority.    I do remember when I first started reading car magazines and saw the Holdens, I wondered if they got some of GM's discontinued American tooling. They did look like some of the circa-1950 American GM cars.

Quite possibly although I think the 50's Holdens were a lot shorter than the US counterparts.
The original 138 CI straight six motors in them were Vauxhall from the UK which I'm pretty sure is also a GM brand.

The original Interceptor was created using a 1973 Ford XB GT Falcon Hardtop (XB GT Falcon Coupe) as the base vehicle. For the first movie a wing was added to the roof and trunk lid. Wheel opening flares were grafted on and a complete new nose cone was added. These were the major changes to the body of the car.
