Don't have the setup or the practice to go that far into a build... I'll stick to my fin-work... ;)

Not a big deal really.  That's my $99 band saw and home made router table ($10 worth of plywood).

Very interesting!  I was wondering how you were going to do this.  So you dimensioned your fingerboard and applied the binding and used the binding as you guide for the beraing on the router bit?

So when you radius the FB does the binding clog the sand paper of the radius block?

Anyway, great work, as usual, and please keep the pics coming they are very helpful.

Yep.  I've built neck 5 different ways and I decided to do it this way once to see how it went.  So far, I'm happy with the process. Keeping the back, top and edges flat throughout most of the building process sure makes working with it easier.  Using the binding as an edge for the bearing was nice and easy.  I'm sure I'll have to clean my sand paper often when I radius the board, but I use 3M gold and it cleans very easily with a small wire brush.

The next thing I'll do is finish the headstock shaping and sanding, then the radius sanding and fret installation while the back of the neck is still flat.  Finally, I'll do the neck profile on the back and I think that's it!

Got the neck pocket routed today!  The neck pickup will cover the heel, so it won't show.  I have a lot of scraping to do on the body binding then I'll glue the neck on.
