Reunion gigs - without the original members

I'd like to see another Sex Pistols reunion if they can get Sid on bass. Being dead since 1979 hasn't lessened his bass skills.

Quick update - well, this will be interesting.  Despite the fact that this reunion is supposed to be about old bands and their original music, two of the guys want to do some Zep tunes.  Sheeeshhh....

The drummer and I would rather do songs that we wrote and were known for.  Plus, we played those so many times, they come back pretty quickly.   The good news is the backline - I get an SVT with a 6x10 cab.  YES!

Stand your ground! Not that cover tunes ought to be forbidden, but you shouldn't want to do Zep tunes unless you were originally a Zep-type band.

Unless, of course, it's all (i) done in good taste (and I never really cared for that hissy middle part in the original, very difficult to dance to!) and (ii) worthy of those musical overachievers that called themselves Led Zeppelin.



Then it's a different matter. I do remember thinking to myself (as I tend to) when I saw the cover to the single in 1979: "Man, how those girls from the "Houses of the Holy" cover



have matured nicely within just a few years, conjoined or not (also a belated explanation why the little girl's legs on the cover of the Zep album are largely obscured, that had me wondering for years as did the music on that album)":



Sadly, Led Zep themselves, hissy middle parts aside, never found world-famous scientists as fans.

in the mid 80's i played in a band  "Band of Gold" that acted as a "house band" for many of the 50's and 60's acts on tour that didn't/couldn't afford to travel with their own band.  Marvelettes, del shannon etc.  Most of those bands had sometimes one original member at best,  some had one "original replacement member" who somehow kept the name and continued.   Most where pretty shot by then but were dead broke.    I  got to play some cool venues at these Rock and Roll revival tours like MSG, Nassau Coliseum, Beacon, Felt Forum.
