It is local and I just want to know before checking it out.  Thanks!

It certainly looks like it, though probably a late-production one: ie- the control panel screening.  It's even one of the more rare 6x EL-34 models of 200 watters instead of 4x KT-88's. The price is on the high side, but not outrageous for what it is.

It's got JJ E34Ls [sic; their deluxe EL34 model] in there which would be a bit of a plus for me (assuming not too well used).

The sales pitch: "This tube has all the tonal qualities of the JJ EL34 but it has an extended low end response and is a little punchier and more aggresive" [source = eurotubes.com]

JJ makes good tubes, period. The marketing tiers that they use typically have some basis in tube performance ratings, unlike some other tube marketing companies. Hiwatts are pretty hard on bad tubes but good tubes biased properly in that amp will have the same life as most transistors in good s/s amps and will certainly outlive an amp with any kind of switching, either in the power supply or the output stage.

Not on the "register" but SNo places it as a Hylight III - I'm not sure exactly when they went over to a "kettle-lead" power socket - mine's a '70 so she has one of those round sockets... unusual to see the HIWATT plate so squiffy on the front... looks very "clean", if you get my drift... the guts look right... a cap would be dated if original but none of those are clear...

Compared to the other two Hiwatt heads on Austin Craigslist right now, it's a freakin' bargain!

That's a real one. It used to belong to Leslie McCurdy. The problem is that it is in MINT condition.......which really isn't a problem!!! Leslie told me he used to baby it and keep it at home!!
