Another option I've become aware of since the original post is to check Ebay for pickups sold by the guys who run Eastwood Guitars.  They sell excess parts stock on Ebay.  The store name is my_rare_guitars_store..you can find it with a search.

I bought a pair of pickups for my Hi-Flyer style bass from them for under $50.  If they had pickups that would fit, the price would be extremely right.

YES! I got one!

Contacted Brandoni and they travelled to Italy to check their storage and found me one. It works so great and sounds so wonderfull you can't imagine.
