I'm back!!!! Thanks to everyone for the wonderful thoughts and prayers before we embarked to Johns Hopkins. We appreciate your love and caring more than we can put into words! We really do have a wonderful community here and it always comes out when things are toughest.
Sorry it's taken me so long to send an update, but it took me a few days to settle in here at home after returning from Baltimore on Wednesday. To be honest, I just didn't feel well enough from the effects of the painkillers to sit on a computer, even for a few minutes. My surgery went well. It turned out that I had a tumor in my bile duct. The cancer didn't spread to any other organs but some cancer cells were found in a couple lymph nodes. So, I'll be undergoing chemo and radiation treatments when the doctors decide what that will entail. That should start in 2-4 weeks. I was elated and exhausted last Wednesday when we got home after a 7 hour drive. It took me a few days to really recuperate. I was only in the hospital for one week and then 5 days resting in a hotel waiting for clearance from my surgeon to travel home.
So, I'll spend the next few weeks getting my strength back and preparing for chemo and radiation. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. The power of your collective caring is felt everyday by our family. I'm back now and will try to contribute whatever I can! I have lots of projects I can tackle while I'm off work, so there is a positive side to resting up!!!
