Title: What TV can do.
Post by: Chris P. on April 16, 2009, 11:17:41 PM
I had a really strange evening last night.

Exactly a year ago I was head of jury of a quite big Dutch band contest. A band called Daily Bread won. Since then I saw the band perform regularly and they signed with the most well known Dutch indie label were all the good Dutch bands are at. I also had a colleague do an interview with the bass player for De Bassist.

Well, yesterday they were live at a TV programm called De Wereld Draait Door. That's maybe the best watched tv show in Holland. I knew they were on, so I tuned to that programm. To my surprise there was footage of me handing them over this award after me announcing: And the winner of........ is: DAILY BREAD.'

After those five seconds my quiet evening was over. I got like 10 text messages, 20 emails, messages on FaceBook and MySpace, people called me. I was busy answering mails, texts and calls the whole evening after five seconds on national TV. Really strange!

So it won't be that big of a jump to get your band on De Wereld Draait Door now.

I like their name- Daily Bread. Sounds like they'd be good Christian folks. ;)

I work in TV as arts and entertainment correspondent for Channel 2 News in Israel. I know exactly what you're talking about. TV has a much larger effect than print media or the Web or radio.

Me as president. I'll like that. And Mark: You're still the one! You will be a prettier first lady than Michelle Obama! With you as first lady I guess every girl in the world will buy a Thunderbird! We'll make the world a better place together:)

@ Uwe:

Doug for president (Bill Clinton)
Mark for Vice president (Hillary Clinton)
Title: "Vice", Condi's boots, American Haute Couture and such ...
Post by: uwe on April 20, 2009, 07:28:14 AM
That is too abstract for me  ???, IIRC then the Vice President with Bill Clinton was Albert Gore and the Vice President with Herr Obama is Joe (Biden, not the plumber). And Hillary is Secretary of State now which in any case is a more powerful position than Vice President (unless you're Dick Cheney and have your own concept of Vice Presidency). Whatever ...

I thought Ken's comment on Mark as "Vice" President was more a limey pun alluding to Mark's sinful alter ego Fräulein Rommel - "vice" as opposed to virtue or "vice" as in "Miami Vice". That said I could imagine Mark feeling quite comfortable in some of those spike heel, knee-lenghth boots Condi Rice used to impress with ... Secretary of State hand-me-downs ...

Finally, since the subject was raised: I think Michelle O. is purdy (not just in sleeveless dresses) and has a fashion sense that is refreshingly American/New Worldish - watch for the arrogant European now - without being in bad taste!  ;D Condi was well-dressed too, but - in line with her job I guess - had a more martial touch to her wardrobe.

And Michelle has a good taste in acoustic guitars too, she gave a Gibson to Carla when the Obamas were chez les Sarkozys.

I took Ken's "vice" comment the same way.

With you as first lady I guess every girl in the world will buy a Thunderbird! We'll make the world a better place together:)

I could totally support this. Then I can be there to scoop a few up when half of the Thunderbird owning population sells them off for being either a symbol of capitalistic greed and oppression or, (depending on what 'side' the new administration is perceived as being on) an evil Communist threat! I win either way!  ;D

The Doug for President committee does not endorse this message. Concerned Thunderbird owners of America are responsible for the content of this ad.

We definitely need to clamp down on North Korea and Iran first. North Korea only had their first TBird flying recently and Iran is working hard at shifting the bass power balance in the Middle East via their mahogany enrichment plants. Which do have tradition:

She didn't inhale, that is all I remember. And that not inhaling is not sex in a legal sense either.

If the cigar is half way down your throat, it may not be fornication. But it's definitely sex.

Which brings to mind the old proverb how one swallow doesn't make a summer, but too many of them indicate a fall. The President's fall that is.

Honey,

You'll need to post some pix of yourself dressed in some *alternative fashion* (i.e. at least no hat!)
engaging in some questionable activity (use your imagination here) to give us all something to continue to gossip about......................... ;)

Some Warwick wielding has-been. With a dubious record re living up to engagement promises. Even changed his name last I heard.
