The South Shore Line is electrically powered, as are all the L's. When I was a young boy in Chicago the city busses were all electrically powered from overhead wires. Battery powered busses, that'd be great.

Gibson Basses / Re: Model One or Will Power?
« on: November 07, 2008, 08:05:15 AM »
They're not identical, even aside from the polepiece spacing.

It's true. When I first considered using a Will Power I emailed Dimarzio asking what the difference was and they replied the only difference was the pole spacing. However, I see now there is a difference in the DC resistance with the Model 1 being 11.3 and the Will Power being 12.5, which I suppose would make it louder and fatter sounding.

There were things I liked and disliked about each canidate. My choice does not translate into disdain for the other. I think on many levels Obama will make a fine president.

My thoughts exactly.

Although, I sometimes think we should have a "voter test" just to see if people actually know anything about the issues or candidates.  Uninformed voters are scary to me.

Yea, and there are a lot of them.

The 4001 in my avatar is a 76 Autumnglo. It had the satin finish. I sold it in 2002 for a bit over $1000. At that time I had 3 Ricks and decided I didn't need them all so I sold all but one. I think I should have waited.

These two pickups are identical except for pole spacing. I have one of each on my T-bird, and am doing a Carvin the same. Will Power close to bridge and Model 1 close to the neck. I originally had 2 Model 1's in the bird, but took one out and replaced it with a Will Power. The W.P. sounded a bit stronger probably because the poles aligned with the strings better.

The Model 1 sounds great in a Rick too.

Can I be your first customer? I need a pickguard, and have been planning an NR project.

That is one concert I would like to have attended. Jarre's Live at Houston is one of my favorite CD's.

Gene Liberty. I still have the NR that he fixed three times in a year and said he wouldn't do it again. The next time it failed I just glued it back together with Elmers and it was 18 years before it broke again.  I hope his skills have improved in the last 30 years. (Uwe, this is the guy who put the Model 1's in it too.)

Joe, check out Tower Paint. (towerpaint.com) They will mix laquer for you in any color you want.

I have noticed that it seems many engineers lack common sense.

The C64 is a Beatles tribute bass, or maybe even a signature model without a signature.

I don't care, I'm not buying one. They look silly unless they are left-handed.

It's was about 15 years ago, we were loading in at a small town downtown bar. I had my only bass, my NR Thunderbird. I carried it in and left it standind on edge next to a table. While carrying in a speaker cabinet I myself acidently hit the case and it fell over. Because the headstock had been previously broken, I knew right away it would be re-broken, and it was. I thought about buying another bass but it was 8 PM on a Saturday night and the closest music store was 30 miles away. I came upwith a brilliant idea, went to a nearby hardware store and bought a C clamp and some shim stock. Put a little shim front and back to protect the wood and clamped it together. It worked great, even stayed in tune, just had a little extra neck dive.

Just last week we were playing on the deck at a local bar, a guitarist dropped his Squire Strat from waist high, and it wasn't hurt a bit.

thanks I was just not sure where to put the hot on the switch.

About the pickups, i asked at Talkbass and some answered this-

Should I connect one of the coil wires to ground and if so, do I  need ground the same wires on both pickups.

I know I'm late to this party, but it looks to me that the pickups might be wired in series, so one of the coil wires on one pickup goes to ground the other wire goes to the next pickup, and the other wire of the second pickup is the output.

In the schematic all the pickup coil wires go to the switch, except the center one which is grounded, making it look like the switch could be used to switch the pickups from series to parallel.
