Title: Esp Les Paul jr. type bass. Anybody knows it?
Post by: Iome on February 22, 2008, 06:36:59 AM
I've found this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ESP-double-cutawy-LP-JR-bass_W0QQitemZ370018997056QQihZ024QQcategoryZ4713QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem
Anybody here's got an idea of what it's called? I love the look of it, but have never seen it before.  ???

That model hasn't been made in several years. Don't know what it was called. I played one in a store, it looked good and I recall that it sounded good (not a Gibson sound with that MM type pickup). But it was a neck diver. That might possibly be remedied by changing strap button locations. I tested it out with a strap since the dive was obvious sitting down, it just was awkward in the way it hung off that upper strap button.

You could just get one of these. A little more expensive but well worth the money.

wow thats nice, it's a Hamer, right?
since i'm lefty i should have to convert the bass by moving the controls on the other side, i would do that on an Esp but not on a Hamer. I believe a custom made lefty version mean extra $.....

One of the local shops has ESP LTD basses, but they have (like Gibson in the past) moved into SG bodies now with a Fender Jaguar-like slant to the bodies.  They aren't bad, built well, and finish is ok.  Not dirt cheap, but affordable, and if you are thinking of modding a lower $ bass into a southpaw I think that is a solid platform.  Certainly better than buying a good Hamer and taking a drill to it.  I thought they were doing some lower buck versions as well though.
