The Outpost Cafe / Re: Grammy Awards

I like her minimal approach to a lot of stuff, but I don't get the Grammy buzz.   We saw a little piece on her on Sunday Morning, and her whole life seems a bit odd.  Very California.   I wonder how success will change the depression.  Success can sometimes do funny things to people wrought with angst.

Since when was this never a pleasure?  False premise...   ;D

Is this even vegan?

Oh, I'm pretty sure we all know the answer to that.

Nice well crafted song. Early 80s?

Yep.

My old singer just posted this one from the past.  I sometimes forget how much I loved this band.

Guilty of all charges above.  Our singer found the original poster for the show, and we were listed as Skytrooper.  Remember that we had never played this club before.  We didn't even know we were opening for them when we pulled up the night before.   After our first night of a six night week, we were told to strike the stage.  When we asked why, the answer was, "We have a concert tomorrow night, and you guys are opening for some band called Rush"

Gary, I saw your quote in the book! Very cool. I saw "opening band: Star Trooper" and was like, "is that Gary and Buddy's band?"

What book?

On the truffles or the fish?

As usual, you are confusing me.

The truffles.

I saw them twice.  The first time was in as the openers for KISS in '75.  I honestly didn't like them that night.  The second time was for the Caress of Steel tour, and just by chance, we were the opening band.  They were great that night, and nice guys to boot.  They sent over half the deli tray that was part of their contract for us to have.  They were funny guys...during sound check Geddy (wearing his glasses) was running around the stage, pretending to be Batman.  If you watch the Living in the Limelight DVD, they talk about filling in empty dates during this tour by going to "backwater towns like Battle Creek".  That may well have been the show we opened for them.
We mourn a lot when our musical heroes finally die.  Some will be harder than others, but they, and we, will all pass on.

 But I honestly don't know where this comes from! Or what fish you guys eat, but I don't associate the two at all (except in locker room'ish jokes). For some reason, women just feel self-conscious about their aroma, I've always wondered why - their mothers must be to blame, it's an upbringing thing. Same nonsense as about their periods, cherry pie is fine with me. (Or was, for the last 20 years or so, I've spent my life with women who were either very early or very late into their menopauses.  :) )

What I do find though (and other men as well who I have raised the issue with, strangely women don't feel the same way or at least don't admit it) is that truffle aroma smells like semen. No joke. I don't have issues with a truffle aroma or the scent of semen for that matter, but given the fact how many people go crazy about it (truffle taste, not semen), I always think to myself: That is not a scent I generally associate with food, but you're welcome to have all you can eat ...

A shot of Amaretto prior will fix that problem.   8)

Can you imagine being hired to do the QC on those?

and fanned frets becoming more mainstream, I so want to try one

They take about 30 seconds to get used to.  The only bass I will have left is my fan-fret custom Precision with the Mahogany body.  The Bettie Page bass.  Outstanding sound.

I'm going to have to ask a lot more for my Embassy when I finally sell it.  It was owned by both Tom Petersson and Jon Brandt at different times.  Very little provenance, but I do have a picture of Brandt playing it when he owned it.   8)

I was just thinking about you the other day! Glad to hear you're in a forward gear
I think you need one a' them Epiphone Embassy Reissues...

For the price of one of those, I could probably buy a pair of the originals.... ;D
