Well, it's not a factory Rickenbacker, but the seller doesn't claim it is.

The thing that bothers me is that it's a 2-years old bass wearing a '67 serial number. It should have been equipped with a 2011 plate. I would have asked RIC to supply a custom plate numbered 11 1967.

Has anyone looked at the other ten Ricky's the same seller has up...? is that the same 21 fret '69 4001 that was posted here earlier this year...?

Same one.

I haven't noticed until you pointed it out that he has so many rare Rics on eBay. That is some impressive collection he's selling.

Ilan, the seller appears to be Graham Griffiths in the U.K. Hope all is well.

Nice looker. Don't think he'll get that price with the changes that were made.

Close one. $3K doesn't seem that bad considering it (allegedly) hasn't been routed. I've read of a number of 4000 basses that were factory routed for a neck pickup. Looks great, and I don't even like MapleGlo!

4080 in Spain - EUR 5,800

That's the later model with the deeper neck pockets.

Paul Wilczynski sells his "fretless Shadow" that he made from a 1976 4001. Black horseshoe and 1/2-inch spacing.

One-of-a-kind mod, very tastefully done.

It is tastefully done, but $4299 BIN for a fretless that's not a real Shadow seems unrealistic to me.

Agreed. Even if this was a one-off RIC-made real Shadow from the same batch (Sep-Dec '86), $4,300 is way too high.

Gorgeous, like all his stuff. Out of my price range by a long shot.
