I've interviewed Dio, Bonnet, and Ian Gillan in the past. Dio is one paranoid little dude. All I had to do was mention Black Sabbath (this was after he left in the '80s), and I got 10 minutes of venting.

Where did you find that?!?!?! He's actually got a really good voice when he wants to use it. Of course, I still like what he did in Rainbow.

Great early RJD clip.
I remember that a couple of guys started a tongue-in-cheek Dio for President campaign in 2004. Wish they would start it up again. We could use more humor.

That's a really nice track of Ronnie when he wasn't yet pigeon-holed Dio. And you can already hear what his voice would become. It is unfortunate how he nowadays disowns everything he did pre-Rainbow, he once commented that all Elf albums should be "turned into pizza packaging" and that he couldn't stand listening to them (in case you were wondering why there hasn't been another worthy reissue of the Elf albums for ages, here's the reason). Yet they contain his most varied and subtle work, especially the 2nd and 3rd album, first one was still a bit formative.
