Title: Have you heard Sturgill Simpson?
Post by: Pilgrim on January 24, 2017, 12:39:57 PM: I only found out about these guys when they hit Colbert. Their bass player is FAST and has a great sound. I'm digging these guys a lot! They do some very nice slow stuff, but it's their rockin' stuff that gets me.

I just looked it up. That bassist seems to be known for playing upright and a 1967 Hofner President bass. I found it on HofnerHounds and some other places.

Post by: Pilgrim on January 28, 2017, 03:22:59 PM: In some of the videos there is a hollowbody bass that (now that I think of it) looks like a Hofner. He seems to play the upright most of the time, and on numbers like firebug he's playing it DARN fast!
