Here's a better picture of the Paradise Teeluxe and the framed study for the graphic.

I don't understand why they didn't build the 4003 pickup into an open-style shell or even a toaster shell and fabricate a larger version of that to be used in the 5 string bass.

John Hall's kid has pretty much taken over from what I can tell. I'm glad to see them trying new things for a change. The new 4002S is really cool, though I'm not crazy about maple fingerboards on Rics. They did one in British racing green that would have looked even more beautiful if they had used the Caribbean rosewood they started using a couple years ago.

That makes sense, and so does limited run variants.

The tooling up costs are minimal, but the collectibility factor converts lookers into buyers.

I'm not following RIC these days, but they seem to be doing some interesting/different things.

Has demand slowed in a way that allows them to dabble in non-standard fare like this, or is something else going on that I'm not aware of?

Buttoning down the final details of this Chromasonic VI...it's been a long time coming.

The bridge is designed, but it requires a neck.

I’m still working through the details on that front...we’ll see how it goes.

I've had time to work on builds again, so I drilled, tapped, center-bored, and chased a bunch of necks for threaded inserts. The center bore allows the machine screw to penetrate into the neck past the threaded insert.

Once the insert is locked in place with thin CA, I chase the insert and thread the CA-infused center bore with an 8-32 tap.

Good luck on this project!

Thanks, I'm pretty excited!

Wow, that turned out amazing!

As some of you may know, the Schaller 3D-8 bridge is no longer being produced. Understanding that, I have an idea for a bridge design that will fill that niche, and aspects of the design may qualify for a design patent. How much interest might there be in a bridge that, at a minimum, fills the gap opened by Schaller’s exit and perhaps also offers something a little different?

It looks like I will be able to have 15 bridges CNC milled from brass and chrome-plated here in the US for about $130 each.

Some basic specs:
  • 5-hole F-style mounting plate
  • 0.15" CTC root/octave string spacing
  • 2.3" overall string spacing.Top-load string attachment
  • Retrofits vintage-spec P & J-style bass bodies with no modification
  • Independent string height and intonation adjustment for every root and octave string
I can't share the basic pencil sketch I used to solicit a price quote, as I'm still considering applying for a design patent. Understanding that, If I could sell 5 or 10 of these at direct cost, I'll probably move forward with the project. This will probably take six months or more to come together, so I'm not looking for any kind of financial commitment, just a sincere expression of interest in seeing this project move forward.

Thanks!
