An interesting fellow showed up........
Hadn't seen one done like this before.

Interesting. Custom?

Whoever did this, turned the rounded shape of a Studio which was inspired by the more edgy shape of the original TBird back into something more edgy. Full circle so to say - or if you like: full rectangle.
-
That looks like perfect Mark material!!
-
Is that a refin/resto-mod?
-
I like that. The pickguard suggests short scale but the headstock says not. What's the story on this one?
-
Nicely done. I like it.

Looks very sexy.

It's the shadow of the G string that looks like the edge of the pickguard.
But is a regular shape Thunderbird pickguard.
-
I’m certainly not up on Tbird minutea , but that looks gorgeous . I was wondering about the chrome bridge with everything else blacked out , but I like it .
-
Looks too 80ies to me. I'm reminded of Charvel in its early days.
-
The bass is in Germany, evidently a short run by Gibson? It's clearly a Studio body.

Ahhh! Looks like I need new glasses!

You and me both! The power of suggestion had something to do with it too. It did look like the shorty 'guard...

With EMGs? I doubt it.
You say it's based on a Studio, why not on that short-lived and -scaled TB they did some years back? That was set neck too and hence without a raised center block. Those Thunderdwarfs were nothing to even remotely write home about. But a possible platform for this here.
The bridge is from a Studio though.

Here's some some shots..... I say it's a Studio.

Me with mine, when I look at how everything sets on the bass, i see a Studio, if it's been modified, I'd say it's very well done. We all know at Gibson the left and right hand often didn't know what the other was doing.

Here's something I didn't know of until two days ago, factory done.

Wonder why they went with chrome for the new NR and then reverted back to black plastic pickup covers on this rev prototype? Is that Grabber blue or supposed to be Pelham? Will be interesting to see where they go with the reverse T birds in the future.

It's the same as the current Thunderbirds. Chrome hardware but black pickups.

Right you are but why not continue the new chrome trend for the new colors?

Yeah, I agree. I don't like the mismatch. Looks sloppy to me.
-
The blue Reverse is 20 years old! Not new.
-
The ForeshadowBird!
-
Dig that blue!
-
That Reverse from 2001 is a one-off Frost Blue. Finish was done by a Gibson employee.
