What choice did I have ? I'll definitely be thinning the herd after this.

Looks like a good deal for something so rare and so complete? If so, and even if not, congratulations!!!
-
Very nice! I'm curious how he managed to remove the over-sprayed top coat from the body? Was it a clear coat?
-
That's a beauty, congrats Scott!

Congratulations Scott - It's definitely *the bass* for you!
-
Look like thumbnail marks next to the base of the neck? In any case, COOL bass, enjoy!
-
Cool video. The bass sounds great...my favorite Entwhistle period sound...lots of fundamental...and not the mondo highs from the later years...
-
HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS. Ugh. I'll be waiting to see what you thin out I guess...
-
Congrats Scott! That's a steal 👍
-
Nice new bass, it's red hot!
-
Stunner, but where's the serial number...?
-
Glad it went to someone who will really appreciate it. 8) You'll need to post some better pics when it arrives, the ones from the auction listing weren't that great.
-
That clip of The Who up there is something I saw on TV a few years back. I quite like the random blinking synth equipment, somehow suggesting that the organ part is coming from inside. JAE's red T-bird looks amazing. Did he keep it for long and was it in the Bass Culture book?
-
It's not in the book. I'm not sure there are ANY non-revs in the book.

It's not in the book. I'm not sure there are ANY non-revs in the book.
There's a cardinal red Firebird III NR (and a Polaris white reverse FB VII on the opposite page) with JAE's comment, "If you still can't sell'em, f*** the shape up!"
...but no NR basses.
Nice score, Scott!

I'm the guilty one.. My buddy Tony Carl (Overdriven66) mentioned this bass to me on the phone and I immediately called Scott!!!

Stunner, but where's the serial number...?
I presume lost during the headstock repair, that and the extra lage blob of solder on the tone control are my only concerns. I don’t think the wiring harness has been removed. Every thing else looks right so I took a leap of faith. Even if it is a refin it's a good deal. Imho. I wish Bill was here to check it out.
-
You've bought worse and come up er... Trumps...
Bill...? Watching over and looking out for us all now... ;)
-
Nice score- looking forward to some more pics in due course.
-
Well the tuners arrived today. Still waiting on the bass.
-
nice bass
-
It's here! Definitely original imho. The headstock and repair are over sprayed on a brighter red, not aged. You can see checking under the touch up and the original color showing through worn spots and nicks. No black showing anywhere. The neck and body have heavy checking some honest player wear. Looks to me like it has always been this color. If it is a refin it's a dam good one and been on the bass for a long time, but I don't think that is the case. Pics soon.

Jesus goddamn christ that bass is sweet.
-
mmm... tasty ! I bet thats going to sound great and a bit of wear and tear over the years only makes it better imho.
-
Dang, that's a beautiful bird. Great move, Scott! I hope it sounds as good as it looks.
-
Beautiful - and killer price! Congrats!
