Freedom of expression gone too far. If it weren't for the "pencil", I wouldn't find that Ricbird so bad though ...

Compared to what?

Look again Uwe!

See how close that (wavy) line of knobs is to the humungous Rick chrome pickup surrounding with a Jazz pickup inside?
And check out that bridge, what is the chrome surplus on the sides doing there?
Transparent thumbrest shoud have been black or chrome to match with the rest of the hardware.
That half erect lower horn...
And I don't like the angle of the flames in the top

One's a bottom-dwelling sand sucking primitive life form, and the other's a fish.

As an occasional heretic within this esteemed group, I have no problem with either of the solutions shown by Uwe.  I prefer the device bolted across the neck plate because it's less visible and seems stronger to me.  I can't avoid the suspicion that one good yank against that extended strap button would either bend it or pull it out of the wood.  But I find either to be a reasonable and logical way to combat neck dive, which I personally dislike.  There are so many modifications made to basses which I find much more esthetically disturbing and less practical that I am not moved to criticize either one.  I'd use the device-across-the-neck-plate solution if needed.   I like solutions which are removable and leave no permanent marks.

Can't we lock out Pilgrim for a day or two until he comes to his senses?

The best removable solution that leaves no permanent marks would be Hipshot Ultralites or Gotoh Res-o-lites.

In my experience they don't help a great deal but $175 buys a lot of delusion.  For me it's difficult to justify the price of Resolites on any bass worth (not costing) less than $1k especially if tone and set up haven't been maximized...sort like putting a $5k set of 20 inch wheels on a 4 cylinder Corolla.

The most practical solution is the third strap button mounted on the rear of the headstock.  They next buyer probably won't object too much.  That will absolutely cure neck dive as well as being excellent birth control.

They don't do a great deal Carlo but all little bits added up do the trick

My Greco Tbird was real neck diver when I got it.
I placed a strapbutton on the heel,
and replaced the plastic control cavity cover for heavier metal one.
No more neck dive.

The BaCHbird Deluxe was a real neck diver before the upgrades.
But with a strapbutton on the heel
and Res-o-lite tuners
the neck dive was gone

IIRC Tommy Stinson had a couple of neck diving Bicentennial T-Birds inlaid with lead weights in the lower body. This was back in the Replacements days.

Didn't work for my DagoVox Phantom, I pounded about 20 sinkers into 1/2 " holes as far south under the pickguard as I could, I had to go Wyman on it.  The Brit one has a lighter neck and heavier body and balances perfectly.  I even have a hard time believing that but it's true.

I have seen some ideas about weighted pockets in the strap a while back - no instrument mod required...
