Dream bass
« on: April 30, 2010, 02:53:48 PM »
i have sort of a special birthday coming up in a few months. my wife came up to me the other day and says she was planning on buying me my dream bass as a gift. :o she said something vintage/expensive that i would never buy for myself. i told her that is very sweet of you but i'm happy with the stuff i have.(2 cheap basses, 1 amp). what a gem she still is after 31 years of putting up with me. ;D

31 years!  Congrats!  I'm working on 13 with my second (and last) wife.  You can always get a nice old P bass.

So , is it the fact that you'll be 60 what makes it special or is it something else? Damn, I'm a nosey SOB ;D.
You're a lucky guy .  Actually, I'm a pretty lucky guy too. My wife did the same thing for me a couple years ago. She wanted to buy me a Tacoma Thunderchief and I just could not allow myself to be that self indulgent.  I've got enough stuff to keep me happy and I really hesitate when it comes to  dropping an excessive amount of cash on something that is more of a Want than a Need .
I had to talk HER in to going the cheaper route and buying me the Olympia.
Anyway, I know how you feel buddy. Sometimes life is pretty good :)

You are a lucky man indeed!

I've received a few basses for anniversaries myself...

Congrats! I can imagine you don't want her to buy you a very expensive bass, but ask her for just a nice and affordable one!

;D  ;D Hey, be careful and don't go farting dust all over the place. I heard that can happen once you hit 60.

There is that old expression for those that hit the "BIG Six-O" - the classic three laws...

1 - Take a p*ss at every opportunity...
2 - If you get a "woody" (which I believe is a US expression ;)), use it, even if you are on your own...
3 - Never, EVER, trust a fart...

First time I heard of this one was from Billy Connolly... Hoots Mon...

Congratulations, nofi! wow
31 years married & turning 60!! Pretty good accomplishments for a Rocker!!

I've still got that '53 Gibson; if she's willing to go 10k, it's yours. ;)
You'd have to flip it back to righty tho. Hmmm I've got the original bridge somewhere. heh
